[Milliways: Field Trip to Haddyn, 2293]
Bar had given them all back packs. It's kind of cute, really, in Mel's opinion. small little things, containing only the essentials - a zapper pistol for each of them, a cross, a stake, a round of PB&J with the crusts cut off, a flask of milky tea, and lunch money (about 20 coi each).
Mel herself just has her own gun and scythe sheathed on her back, as she climbs through the window into her small, beaten up apartment, and holds the door open for them.

"You want us to jump onto a flying vehicle from here?" This definitely qualifies as a "bad plan" in Makita's book.

To 'Kita: "You OK? There's a crossway a few blocks down where we can get one while it waits."

"OK," she says, one foot on the sill. "Steph, you choose one and go. Jet follow, then 'Keet. Me n'Legs'll be right behind."

It's like flying, it really is!
"C'mon, guys!"

Fear? That's for people who don't know they're gonna die somewhere else.

She nearly jumps without detaching her drop-line, and the time it takes to resecure it with the rest of her gear delays her jump a precious half-second. The way she's plummeting she'll manage to hit the target, but much closer to the edge than is normally recommended.
Not that she knows this since her eyes are closed.

"Nice jump."

"They're not bad, are they?" she says, teasing a little. "I think we can work with this."

Mel looks entirely at home, standing idly and stretches her hands behind her head, while Legs patters about excitedly on the roof.
"Wellcome to Haddyn. I'll be your tourguide this evening. Please keep all your hands well within the vehicle and don't feed the animals."
no subject
The Bats would fit in so well.
"There's animals?" She's keeping an eye on the two who haven't been rooftop-running most of their lives, but they look fine, so she's also making herself comfortable on the flying van's roof. "Apart from you?"

"And... well, depends whether or not you count lurks as people."
She glances at 'Kita again. "Wanna make a stop soon?"
no subject
When Mel looks over at Kita, she does too, and then keeps scanning the area absently. SNEAKY.
"Yeah, maybe get our legs on the ground a bit?"
That's totally convincing! It's not like Steph loves to fly more than anything else in the world or anything.

He's not really sure what to call them BEYOND that, because-- well, Asiatic mythos don't really include a lot on vampirism. ...Flying disembodied heads that suck your blood? Sure. Vampires? Not so much.
As for the landing, he'll follow the others when they're ready.

"See that roof over there? We'll stop at the lights. Jump off soon as we're stopped."
no subject
Now isn't that reassuring?
The van pulls to a halt, and Steph readies herself to leap.

Makita nods and slowly, carefully shifts from a splayed out hug of the vehicle to something more like a crouch. Not really the best jumping position, but more effective than lying on your stomach with your eyes closed.
